A Birkenhead shipyard plans to build wind turbines which would be sited not far off the Isle of Man.
Cammell Laird, which services Steam Packet vessels, is in talks with German energy giant RWE over a multi-million pound deal.
Once built, the two turbines would be placed on a wind farm twelve miles off the Manx coast.
If the contract was awarded to Cammell Laird, the company would build a jetty in the Mersey to serve the Irish Sea windfarm.
