DfE and Treasury expecting report after UK decision
The Isle of Man's Minimum Wage Committee will take into consideration the rate at which other neighbouring jurisdictions set theirs.
That's according to the Department for Enterprise which has responded to the UK Chancellor's decision yesterday to increase the rate there to £9.50 per hour.
The Island's minimum wage currently stands at £8.25.
The department says whilst there are 'complex points' to consider it, along with the Treasury, is continuing to consult with the committee which has been gathering evidence ahead of new recommendations which will be put forward.
In a statement to Manx Radio it adds: "The committee do take into consideration the various minimum wage rates in neighbouring jurisdictions and the department and Treasury would expect to be reviewing their report in the coming weeks before taking any conclusion forward to Tynwald, who ultimately have to approve any change."
