Development has been named 'Thie Clag' which means Clock House in Manx
Local estate agent Cowley Groves has been confirmed as the sole lettings and managing agent for the redevelopment of the former nurses’ home in Douglas.
A project to transform the site on Westmoreland Road into a block of apartments is on track to be completed by early next year.
You can read more on that HERE.
The building, originally built in 1953, provided temporary accommodation for hundreds of nurses working at Noble’s Hospital but spent many years in a state of deterioration.
Redevelopment plans were submitted by the Manx Development Corporation in 2022. MDC is a government-owned company which was established in 2021 to restore brownfield sites around the Isle of Man.
In the latest update, the corporation said the construction works are proceeding 'at pace and on budget', despite early investigations finding asbestos and water ingress would pose 'significant challenges'.
The development, now called "Thie Clag", meaning 'Clock House' in Manx, will comprise of 37 apartments and a large ground floor commercial unit for the rental market.
Cowley Groves says more details on where to register an interest will follow next week.
