Help on hand as GDPR approaches

Businesses urged to get compliant

Manx businesses are being offered guidance through what's being called the 'most important change' in data laws in a generation.

The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May, aiming to prevent privacy breaches and large-scale cyber attacks with a unified policy across member states.

You've probably heard of it, but what does it mean?

Under the rules, all firms will be required to manage their IT systems, and take 'reasonable' steps to demonstrate they take privacy seriously - with heavy penalties for those who fail to comply.

Data kept in the public sector will be overseen by an army of newly-appointed Data Protection Officers.

It's predicted the EU could rake in as much as £5 million in fines in the first year of GDPR.

Douglas-based ISO QA, whose bosses are highly qualified in the field, says it's happy to help companies big and small wrap their heads around the potential minefield ahead of the deadline.
