Corporate specialist joins team at Cains
A former St Ninian's high school pupil who went on to become an international corporate lawyer in the United States, is returning to his roots to join Island law firm Cains.
Garry Manley has been appointed senior legal advisor in the corporate department at the Douglas-based practice.
The 32-year-old former head boy gained a first class law degree at Oxford University, before joining Cleary Gottlieb in 2007 - a global firm which has Google, Coca Cola, Walt Disney and several governments, among its clients.
Mr Manley advised on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and financing transactions in London, New York and Hong Kong.
Returning with his family, he says he wants to make a contribution to the Island in return for the successful opportunities it gave him.
Garry Manley's family has a close association with the law.
His father was the last prosecuting sergeant before the Attorney General's office took the role, while his grandmother Margaret Corkill was the Isle of Man's first female police officer.
He's competed in swimming in three Island Games, previously setting a number of junior and senior records.
