One small step commemorated in eight stamps
The Isle of Man Post Office is issuing a set of stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of lunar exploration.
The eight stamps have been created with the support of Former Johnson Space Center Director George Abbey, who worked with NASA during the Apollo missions and planetary scientist David R Williams.
The issue is the first of two to cover the Apollo missions and covers Apollo 1 to Apollo 11 when Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin made the giant leap for mankind by stepping out on to the moon's surface on July 20th 1969.
A further issue in 2020 will cover the Apollo missions 12 to 17.
The stamps illustrate the beauty of space, the moon and the vehicles which took humanity to the moon.
