The Channel Island of Jersey has been urged to get moving over an internet strategy, apparently spurred on by progress made in the Isle of Man.
An 'open symposium' is being organised to discuss an internet strategy for the Island.
The idea has come from the emerging industries sub-committee of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, which hopes the event will produce ideas for a white paper to the States.
The chair of the sub-committee says he is concerned that the Island's government has taken a 'defensive, risk averse approach' to the e-gaming sector.
The comment is made: 'Currently the Island's law does not, for example, enable data hosting firms to provide back-up facilities for e-gaming companies. But both the Isle of Man and Guernsey have welcomed the sector and now host some of the biggest brands, such as Sportingbet'.
