The Financial Supervision Commission says there is a new opportunity for finance companies with a new type of fund.
The Regulated Fund will come into effect on May 1, when the FSC says it will reissue specialist and qualifying funds.
In a statement, the commission says it's in response to a new market environment which recognises the importance of appropriate regulatory oversight for funds.
And it has already been met with some approval – the Irish Stock Market says the regulatory structures mean such funds can now be listed there.
