Salute to ManSat for years fostering talent

ManSat CEO Chris Stott

Satellite industry award for Chris Stott

The ManSat Group is to be honoured next month for its work with students and young professionals in the satellite industry.

CEO Chris Stott will be presented with the global 2015 Mentor of the Year Award from the Society of Satellite Professionals Institute (SSPI) at the body's Future Leaders dinner in New York on 10 November.

The firm carries out satellite filings for the Isle of Man government under a contract with the Communications Commission, and has offices here, in the UK and the US.

The award salutes the development of the ManSat Fellowship, which since 2007 has supported the attendance of two local students at NASA's United Space School each year.

The company has also helped Manx students study at NASA's Lunar and Planetary Institute and awards scholarships to the International Space University.

Mr Stott is currently chairman of the SSPI and his nomination - the first of a sitting chair for the award - came from Howard Parkin of the Isle of Man Astronomical Society.
