Sight Matters Reflects on a Landmark Year and Looks Ahead to Its 90th Anniversary

This is a paid for promotion on behalf of Sight Matters

Sight Matters has reflected on a landmark year of achievement while setting its sights on an even more significant milestone ahead.

Speaking from the charity’s studios in Onchan, CEO Cathryn Bradley highlighted the impact of Sight Matters’ work throughout 2025, a year that saw the organisation deliver 99 free activities for blind and partially sighted members across the Isle of Man. The charity also strengthened its creative links through partnerships supported by the Arts Council’s 60 for 60 programme, helping to broaden access to arts and cultural experiences.

A major sustainability project was completed during the year with the installation of solar panels at Sight Matters, made possible through a successful community fundraising campaign. The initiative reflects the charity’s commitment to reducing costs and investing in its long-term future.

Cathryn also acknowledged the ongoing challenges of fundraising in the current climate, emphasising the vital role of community support in enabling Sight Matters to continue offering free and inclusive services. This support was celebrated with the charity receiving the first-ever national Digital Inclusion Award, achieved in partnership with SQR, recognising its work to ensure members can access digital technology and services.

The year was marked by several high-profile events, including Dining in the Dark, the Ivan Soulsbury Coast to Coast, and the Kids Coast to Coast, all of which helped raise awareness and funds while bringing the community together.

Looking ahead, attention is already turning to 2026, which will mark the 90th anniversary of the Manx Blind Welfare Society. Plans are underway to celebrate nine decades of supporting blind and partially sighted people on the Isle of Man, while reaffirming Sight Matters’ commitment to meeting future needs.

The charity has also extended a festive message to supporters and members, inviting the community to get involved in its forthcoming 90th birthday celebrations and continue supporting its work in the years ahead.
