Telecoms accolade for MT in stock market awards

Manx Telecom has won a UK stock market award at the end of its first year as a PLC.

MT was named Best Telecommunications PLC, a category based on corporate and financial performance, strategic development and shareholder return.

The UK Stock Market Awards, in their fifth year and sponsored by KPMG, were announced at a gala dinner in London last week, compered by BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull.

Manx Telecom became a PLC in February 2014 after flotation on the Alternative Investment Market.

In its first year, the company opened the first phase of its new Greenhill Data Centre and launched the Island's first 4G mobile broadband network.

Mike Dee, Manx Telecom CEO, commented:

“To win this award is a deserved recognition of the success of the AIM flotation last year, and an indicator of the level of awareness of Manx Telecom in the City. It’s a huge honour for the business and all of our hard working staff, and great news as we embark on our second year as a fully independent company.
