Trials boost standing of bio-med cluster

Progress in developing frontier sector

The Isle of Man's proposition to global bio-med firms is attracting a steady flow of inquiries, ahead of the sector's third annual conference.

The niche business cluster has seen the Island win the tag 'trial Isle', attracting interest from specialist firms developing innovative drugs, devices, therapies and health technology.

Several enterprises have chosen the Island as their business base, a number of others are considering relocating here.

Several contrasting trials are currently underway, ranging from a  home diabetes diagnosis system to testing of telephone software to improve quality of life for people with a hearing impairment - a project supported by Manx Telecom.

The third Manx BioMed Conference will be hosted by the DED in Douglas 9-11 December.
