
The Island’s answer to Microsoft Windows will release a new version in less than two months time.
Ubuntu Linux, produced by Douglas-based Canonical Software, will move to version number 8.1 in October.
In keeping with previous versions, it’ll have a silly animal codename – in the past they’ve included Hardy Heron and Gutsy Gibbon.
8.1 will be known as Intrepid Ibex and will focus on mobility to compete in the ultra-portable market.
Some of the key areas of improvement for Intrepid Ibex will be faster boot times and much-improved 3G connection support.
