118 defect notices handed out during Winter Lights campaign

Over half of the vehicles checked had problems

Over half of the 220 vehicles stopped during the police's Winter Lights campaign were found to have defects.

118 drivers received vehicle defect forms over the last few weeks as the Isle of Man Constabulary's Roads Policing Unit conducted checks to ensure cars using the Island's roads are ready for the colder weather.

Three drivers were also booked for having tyres that didn't meet the required standard.

Officers say they will continue to look out for defective lights, and are appealing for motorists to check their vehicles and tyres to make sure they are safe to be on the road.
