Today is Saturday June 6th.

Seventy-six years ago, as morning broke, thousands of allied soldiers went ashore on beaches in Normandy.

Many didn't survive the invasion, code named 'D Day'.

In the second wave was Manxman Hector Duff, OBE, Military medal, British Empire medal, who celebrated his 100 birthday last year:
