A-level results day

Long wait over for Manx students

A-Level students around the Island are receiving results today (16th) from their summer exams.

Around 350 Year 13 students from the five Island secondary schools sat exams in approximately 40 subjects earlier this year.

Now, it's crunch time.

A-levels and Level 3 BTEC results are being revealed today (16th Aug), and youngsters are finding out whether they have the required grades for further education courses of their choice.

Last year, 68.3% of Year 13s went to university either on or off Island, and another 19% took up employment.

The department of education says support and contingency plans are in place for those who haven't done as well as hoped.

They also stress that the Manx statistics are not directly comparable with those for England, as figures on Island only consider Year 13s from government schools, but a wider range of results are analysed in the UK.

Manx Radio will be providing coverage of the results throughout the day.
