'Losing him leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him'
The Isle of Man Airport has added its voice to tributes being paid to a community figure from the west of the Island.
News of Nigel Rawlinson's death was first reported yesterday (22 July).
In a post on social media, the team at Ronaldsway said: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dear former colleague, Nigel Rawlinson.
"Affectionately known as "Big Nige" or "Rawley," Nigel was a cherished member of our Airport Fire and Rescue team for many years before his retirement in 2015.
"Nigel was truly larger than life, bringing warmth, humour, and dedication to every shift.
"His presence was a great asset to the airport, and his influence on our team and community was profound.
"Losing him leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him."
They added: "Our sincerest condolences go out to Nigel’s family and friends during this difficult time.
"We hope that they find comfort in the memories of a life well-lived and in the support of those who share in their grief.
"Rest in peace, Nigel. Your spirit will always be part of our Airport family."
