19 questions on April order paper

Assisted dying, the former police station in Castletown and waiting times in accident and emergency are just some of the topics up for discussion in Tynwald today (21 April).

Politicians will hear from the author of the controversial assisted dying legislation, Dr Alex Allinson; the Ramsey MHK will make a personal statement following his delayed Private Member’s Bill.

Onchan MHK Julie Edge has also tabled an urgent question on the same topic.

She wants to know when he was informed by the Lord Chancellor that the Ministry of Justice was unable to recommend the Assisted Dying Bill 2023 for Royal Assent.

There are 19 questions for answer at the April sitting.

These include inquiries relating to the former police station in Castletown sparked by a motion on the main order paper seeking permission to sell the building.

The work and operations of Manx National Heritage, which owns it, will also be under the spotlight as will department, board and office overspends.
