Auschwitz liberation anniversary marked by tree planting

A tree of special significance has been planted in Hutchinson Square in Douglas.

It was done yesterday by members of the Island's Jewish community, to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

The acorn it was grown from, and three others, were brought back from the concentration camp to the Isle of Man by Ian, one of the community's members.

Lindsay Quayle, who was at the ceremony, explains why the ceremony was not publicised beforehand.
