Avoid unnecessary travel, urge police

Ice and snow on Manx roads

Police are urging the Manx public to avoid unnecessary travel due to ice and snow on the Island's roads.

The Mountain Road has been closed since the early hours of this morning, while officers say Minorca Hill in Laxey is also difficult to pass.

Motorists are being asked not to make journeys unless essential, while gritters are out on the main roads.

A yellow weather warning for ice and wintry showers is in place until 3pm.

The Department for Infrastructure has closed the A3 between Ballacraine and Cronk Y Voddy.
