McNulty given another 20 weeks in prison
A handyman has been sent back to prison after a 'very stupid mistake' in his car.
The court today (Tue) heard how 27 year-old Jason McNulty had made 'great strides' to turn his life around since his last conviction - but he'd been unable to stop himself from offending again.
McNulty had been jailed in 2015 for driving whilst disqualified, but on 20 April this year, chose to drive his unsafe vehicle to Police Headquarters - where he was found to have no licence and no insurance.
The Douglas man pleaded guilty to four offences at an earlier court hearing.
This morning, his advocate argued that improvements had been made in McNulty's employment situation since his last brush with the law - and that he might benefit from professional help with his 'decision making skills'.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes replied 'that's easy; he just needs to not get in a car'.
Sentencing him to 20 weeks in prison, Mrs Hughes also ordered him to appear in court again on 4 July, on an unrelated public order charge.
