Bell tolls the changes

A substantial ministerial reshuffle is likely – should Tynwald approve plans to restructure government later this month.

So says the Chief Minister Allan Bell, just over a week before a debate on proposals designed to create a smaller, simpler and less bureaucratic structure.

The package of reforms includes a reduction of government ministers and departments, Health and Social Care being reunited, a merger of the MEA and Water Authority and a new Cabinet Office.

It’s hoped the scaled-down structure will result in substantial savings long-term and achieve a more joined-up approach to the challenges facing the Island.

Should that happen, Mr Bell says it’s inevitable it will trigger significant change.
