MHK says it'll give closure to Knottfield victims
An inquiry to assess the Island’s child care safeguarding procedures has officially been launched.
Tynwald’s social affairs committee is asking for written submissions between now and midday on August the 30th.
It’s after Ayre and Michael MHK, Tim Baker, gained support for an investigation into reports of historical child abuse at the former Knottfield Children’s Home, and to ensure current procedures are adequate.
He said victims of abuse at the home, which closed in 1983, must be given closure.
Views from the public should be sent to the committee secretariat at Legislative Buildings in Douglas, or via e-mail at enquiries@tynwald.org.im.
