Alan Shea says he accepts apology
A gay rights campaigner says the chief constable's apology letter has opened doors for other police forces to follow his lead.
Alan Shea made the comment during this weekend's Isle of Pride festival.
He says he accepts the five page letter, which apologised for the way some officers enforced the Island's historical laws against homosexuality, and described Gary Roberts as 'brilliant'.
He added the apology was something the Island's gay community has always wanted, especially for the families of those that were targeted:
