Cancer charity’s disappointment over Boyzlife concert

Claims boyband performers didn’t fulfil ‘contract commitment’

Claims have been made that two boyband performers ‘didn’t fulfil their contract commitment’ after a gig held at the weekend.

The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group brought ‘Boyzlife’ to the Villa Marina on Saturday as part of efforts to raise money for the organisation.

However it’s now apologised to those who attended saying the charity feels ‘very let down and disappointed’ after Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy only performed for 45 minutes.

People who attended the concert – which brought together the members of Boyzone and Westlife – took to social media to complain about their lateness and the length of time they were on stage.

Responding to the criticism Manx Breast Cancer Support Group said the duo was supposed to be on stage at 8pm and they were expected to do a 90-minute set saying it was ‘shocked’ this was halved.

“We felt very let down and disappointed for you all. We certainly wouldn’t recommend anyone to use them after this,” the charity added.

Charity member Carole Male also alleged that the two boyband stars had ‘walked away’ from a VIP meet and greet reception claiming they had been ‘hassled’ and describing the situation as ‘unreal’.

“We feel sorry that you all came both to support Manx Breast Cancer Support Group and also see a good show which it wasn’t,” she added.

However some people were happy with the performance – Becca said they were ‘good’ but she’d have preferred them to be on stage for longer, Deborah added: “We were there, they didn’t sing for long but we enjoyed it” and Melanie said she ‘thoroughly enjoyed the night’ describing it as ‘short but sweet’.

Manx Radio has invited the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group to be interviewed but the request was declined.

Manx Radio has contacted Boyzlife for comment.
