Cannan: Meetings with UK Government 'positive' despite 'tensions'

Chief minister in London as multiple MPs resign from Boris Johnson's government

The chief minister says meetings he's been attending in London with members of the UK government have been 'fairly successful' despite 'tensions' around Boris Johnson's position as prime minister.

Alfred Cannan is visiting the English capital before heading to the British Irish Council summit.

He says meetings, with the likes of Ian Blackford of the SNP and Brexit Opportunities Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg, have served to address issues such as the Isle of Man's position in free trade agreements, fishing and renewable energy.

But with more than 50 MPs having now resigned from the UK government in the past 48 hours, Mr Cannan says it remains to be seen who turns up to the council meeting:
