Charity head wants more inclusion for the elderly

David Gawne says isolation and loneliness prominent in Island life

The chairman of the Isle of Man Live at Home Schemes believes more needs to be done to include elderly people in Island life.

David Gawne says the issue of isolation and loneliness is bigger than many think.

Research carried out by the University of the Third Age (U3A) claims older members of society contribute a great deal more to the economy than they take out.

And Mr Gawne insists ignoring the problem will lead to increased health and social care costs down the line:
