Chief Minister Alfred Cannan is expected to ask Tynwald to approve the appointment of a new information commissioner (IC).
Alexandra Delaney-Bhattacharya is proposed for the role on a term of up to five years.
She will take over from the interim postholder Stewart Haynes, who held the position for an extended period after the government was unable to recruit a new candidate within the allocated six months.
The IC is responsible for regulating the Freedom of Information Act and data protection laws on the Island.
