Children pay respect to villagers lost in conflict

Children from Onchan schools will gather this morning (Saturday) to pay their respects to those from the village who lost their lives in both World Wars and in Northern Ireland.

Pupils from Onchan and Ashley Hill schools will read poems and verses they have written at the Garden of Remembrance in St Peter’s Church.

They will place more than 70 wooden crosses in the garden, each bearing the name of an Onchan resident who lost their life in conflict.

Children will also take part in a Remembrance service at the Cenotaph at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning (Sunday).
