Church defends headstone ruling

Authorities act after parishioners object to 'unsightly' memorial

Church authorities say they've ordered the removal of a controversial headstone from an Island churchyard, to ensure fairness for all.

An ecclesiastical court has ruled that procedures were not followed when a wooden memorial to singer Katherine Crowe at All Saints Church was erected at her grave.

Her partner Andy Frankland Davies, who was informed how to seek permission, but didn't, has been told to remove it.

It's understood the authorities acted after a number of parishioners objected to it.
