Derek Crellin served on the local authority for 25 years before retiring in March
Onchan Commissioners has agreed to host a civic reception in honour of one of its former members.
Derek Crellin will be recognised for his 'contribution' to public services in the village, including the renaming of the Harvey Briggs library and his 25 years on the local authority.
The decision to have the event was objected to by David Quirk and Robin Turton who said the matter should be voted on by a full board.
New commissioner John Hamilton, who proposed the idea at last night's board meeting said Mr Crellin had a 'wealth' of knowledge and supported him during the election process.
