Committee to look into Island footpath maintenance from next week

Panel formed following petition last year from resident

A Tynwald committee will begin looking into how footpaths and rights of way are maintained around the Isle of Man next week.

It follows a petition presented last July calling for action around the matter.

A select committee was formed in response to a petition from David Buttery.

He called for the creation of one entity whose sole responsibility would be looking after public rights of way across the Isle of Man.

The committee will begin taking oral evidence around the matter next Thursday (3 February) at 11am from Mr Buttery himself.

On 7 February from 10am, the panel will then hear from numerous officials and organisations.

It'll include Visit Isle of Man, the Director of Highways and Highways & Public Rights of Way Officer.

All evidence on those dates and times will be heard at Legislative Buildings in Douglas.
