Corporation fine 'waste of court time'

Regulations to be reviewed ahead of this year's fireworks

The Executive Committee Vice-Chair of Douglas Corporation, Councillor Richie McNicoll, says he believes the case in which the authority was fined £250 for not having a music licence was a waste of court time.

The penalty was imposed by magistrates after the Corporation pleaded guilty to playing music without a licence on 6th November 2016, following a 24 hour delay to last year's firework display, caused by technical problems.

Mr McNicoll accepts the licence was broken, but believes the case was a waste of rate payers' money - and regulations will be reviewed ahead of this year's event.
