45-year-old accused of causing 'public outrage'
A taxi driver from Ramsey has appeared in court after being accused of causing ‘public outrage’.
Adrian Erive Santos, of Close Caarjys, was produced at Douglas Courthouse from custody today (7 July).
Police arrested and charged the 45-year-old yesterday with committing an act ‘injurious to public morals or outraging decency’ contrary to Section 347 of The Criminal Code 1872.
It’s alleged that he, in his position of trust as a taxi driver, requested his lone female customer perform sexual acts on him in exchange for free travel.
The incident, which reportedly happened on the Mountain Road on 27 June, was recorded and shared to social media.
A two-week adjournment was requested so Mr Santos can seek further legal advice.
He will next appear in court on 21 July.
Bail was granted on the condition that he resides at his home address, does not leave the Island without the court’s permission and does not contact the witnesses in the case.
Police issued a statement on Sunday (5 July) asking people not to speculate over the footage and to not take matters into their own hands.
