Cronky match to plough another furrow . . .

A second attempt to run one of the most popular of the Island's ploughing matches will take place tomorrow (Sun 17th)

This year's Cronk y Voddy event had to be postponed last month due to heavy snow and frozen ground.

It will now get underway at 10.30am on Sunday morning at Ballakilmurrey on Poortown Road, with competition taking place through the day until the traditional prompt 3.15pm finish.

Despite the later than usual date, there will still be all the usual event, including the different styles of ploughing . . . vintage tractors and of course the ever popular horses, with the best animals judged by President of Tynwald Claire Christian.

Just as importantly for many, the marquee will be open through the day serving the essential hot and cold victuals.

However there is one major change; the prize presentation, concert and supper will now take place on MONDAY night in St Johns Methodist Hall at 7.45pm.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Society's nominated charities - Robert Owen House and Rebecca House Children's Hospice.

To get to Ballakilmurrey . . turn left at Ballig Bridge on the TT course just past Ballacraine and follow the Poortown road until you see the marquee on your right - and look out for some mud on the road!
