Infrastructure Minister asked for removal of contraversial design
The removal of the Celtic knot crossing on the Curragh Road in St John's is due to be completed today.
Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall asked for the design to be removed after he reviewed it.
The decision comes despite a road safety specialist determining that the inclusion or exclusion of the pattern would have no material impact on the safety of the crossing.
The Coroner of Inquests recently called for an audit of the site following the death of a cyclist.
