Did Youtube footage spark bus probe?

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has confirmed it’s instigated disciplinary investigations against a number of bus drivers.

However, it won’t say whether any are connected to a Youtube video of a bus being driven by a volunteer during last week’s industrial action.

The footage was alleged to have been shot by striking drivers from a car following the bus and claimed to show it clipping a wall as it turned a tight corner – but the video has now been removed.

In a statement, the Department’s chief executive says alleged breaches of disciplinary standards are being looked into.

Nick Black says a number of drivers are currently under investigation amid allegations they broke department rules.

He says in at least one case the matter isn’t related to the current dispute with drivers over terms and conditions which saw a half-day walkout last week.

Mr Black says the incidents are currently going through the department’s standard disciplinary procedures.

And he adds no further comment can be made so as not to prejudice the outcome of the investigations.
