Disconnecting gas customers to be subject of Tynwald discussion

Douglas North MHK will ask OFT what's being done to reconnect people

Isle of Man Energy’s decision to cut off the gas supply to some residents on the Isle of Man will be in the spotlight in Tynwald today (12 December).

Douglas North MHK David Ashford will ask the chair of the Office of Fair Trading what’s being done to reconnect them.

You can find out more HERE.

He told Manx Radio some of his constituents, who are classed as vulnerable, still remain disconnected five weeks after having their gas cut.

The energy supplier maintains it won’t act if consumers are 'actively engaging' over their debt or have put in place a reasonable payment plan.

But Mr Ashford says that's not as easy as it sounds:

You can listen to Manx Radio's Tynwald coverage from 10am via DAB, on our AM 1368 frequency or by clicking HERE.
