Disjointed communication between DHSC and Abbotswood families

Health Minister explains delays in communication

The health minister says communication with families of Abbotswood residents was disjointed while people were moved out of the care home.

David Ashford was responding to claims family members had been 'left in the dark' regarding certain aspects of their residency.

Fifteen people from the Ballasalla care home were moved this week to the Community Covid ward at Newlands and a private patient's unit, but issues related to fees were unclear.

Mr Ashford said this was down to the department having to 'act quickly', putting some aspects of communication on hold:

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases on the Island stands at 332 - with one further case reported yesterday. There are currently 35 active cases.
