DOI: Only two small mistakes on silt dredging

Tensions run high at Public Accounts Committee

The Department of Infrastructure only made two small mistakes when handling the dredging of silt at Peel harbour earlier this year.

That's according to minister Phil Gawne, who was giving evidence to the Public Accounts Committee on the financial and procurement aspects.

The committee heard the total cost to remove and relocate the silt was £285,000 and the work was done by off-Island companies.

While admitting his team had made some mistakes, Mr Gawne wasn't pleased with the way they had been treated by PAC chairman Alf Cannan:

The committee will now consider the matter further and present its report to Tynwald in the near future.
