Driving ban for Willaston woman who crashed into crashed cars

Six penalty points tip her over allowed limit

A Willaston woman has been banned from driving after crashing her car into two vehicles which had been involved in a collision earlier.

Forty-four-year-old Beverley Jane Kirlew, of Keppel Road, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

She pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, and having two faulty tyres, on 20 September last year.

Kirlew had been driving her Vauxhall Astra, along Jurby Road in Lezayre, shortly before 8am.

She hit a silver Honda car and a black Ford Transit van which were parked after an earlier incident.

During the crash Kirlew hit a woman who'd been driving the van but the court heard she suffered only minor injuries.

When police arrived they discovered the tread on both Kirlew's back tyres were illegally worn down and Kirlew told officers she'd been dazzled by the sun.

She was fined £600, ordered to pay £50 towards prosecution costs and had six penalty points added to her licence.

The court heard Kirlew had accumulated 14 points and she was banned from the roads for six months.
