Drunk man admits punching van

Case adjourned until August

A man's admitted being drunk and disorderly in the north of the Island.

Twenty-four-year-old Michael Anthony Brown, of no fixed abode, also admitted a charge of criminal damage.

The offences happened just before 11am on May 2 earlier this year.

The court heard how the defendant walked out in front of a van on Lezayre Road in Ramsey at 10.45am after a heavy day and night of drinking.

He then proceeded to punch the side of the vehicle causing three small dents and £330-worth of damage.

Brown said he'd wanted to 'knock himself out with drink' to switch his mind off, and had no recollection of the incident.

He's now been bailed and Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes has adjourned the case until Tuesday, August 19.
