Duck 'massacre' provokes outrage

Suspicions several birds were hit by same vehicle

There's been condemnation after a number of ducks were reportedly mown down by a careless driver.

Wildlife charity The Manx Hedgehog Conservation Society was alerted to several dead birds in the road near East Baldwin last Friday afternoon (3 August).

It appears they were hit by the same vehicle.

The charity says it isn't the first time such a 'massacre' has taken place on country roads - and suggests the unknown driver's actions may have been deliberate.

Campaigners have called on motorists to take more care around the Island's wildlife.
