Easter fraud alert

Bank warns of scam glut

There's a warning fraudsters are likely to be out in force over the Easter weekend.

Isle of Man Bank is telling customers to be 'extra vigilant', as trends show con artists tend to strike on public holidays when consumers are spending more than usual.

It's understood a series of so-called 'smishing' attacks - where users are tricked into giving away sensitive data via text messages - has resulted in a number of Islanders losing money this year.

The bank is once again reminding people to 'under no circumstances' give away confidential security information over the phone.
