Chief Minister urges people to get on electoral roll

The chief minister is urging all would-be candidates for next spring's local authority elections in the Island, to make sure they are on the voters' list.

During the summer, several commissioners and councillors were forced to stand down - after it was revealed they were not on the electoral register on polling day. 

That has sparked a number of by elections around the Island.

In Port St Mary, a commissioners failed to make the ballot paper in a bid to win back her seat, after missing the register's quarterly update.

Under current rules, residents who do not return the forms sent to them, fall off the list.
