Event to remember those affected by Parkinson's

Annual Parkinson's awareness week marked

There is a church service in Braddan this weekend for anyone affected by Parkinson's Disease.

As part of the annual awareness week collections have been held in Shoprite stores around the Island and those with Parkinson's and their carers have been speaking about the impact of the illness.

It was first identified in 1871, and 200 years later while there is no cure researchers have made some progress in improving patients' quality of life.

Support is available for anyone affected over here by the Parkinson's Disease Society Isle of Man.

Fenella Farrer, whose husband Rob was diagnosed in 2008, is urging anyone who suspects they may have Parkinson's to see their GP as soon as possible following the couple's own experience.

The service at Braddan Church on Sunday will feature a performance from The Regal Singers and starts at 3pm.
