Cancer waiting times shortened
Data from the Department of Health and Social Care shows an improvement in waiting times for those with cancer.
It's the first year such figures have been made publicy available.
Eighty-seven per cent of cancer patients now begin their treatment within 31 days of being diagnosed - an increase of 13% on the previous quarter.
In addition, over three quarters of those referred to the Oncology service are seen within two weeks.
That's another improvement, but it's some way below government's target of 93%.
One area to fall in performance is the number of 'life-or-death' 999 calls being responded to by paramedics in under eight minutes - that figure dropped to 58%.
Minister Kate Beecroft said staff had been 'working tirelessly' to meet targets, and she was satisfied with the 'tremendous progress that has been made'.
