22-year-old told police: "I thought I could get away with it"
A Douglas man has been fined £1800 after being caught hiding cannabis in his pants.
Alexander Brett Kinrade, of Keppel Road, had 12 grams of the Class B drug hidden in individual wraps when he was searched on 27 August.
It had a street value of £240; the 22-year-old told officers: "Sorry for not being honest from the start – I thought I could get away with it."
At Douglas Courthouse Kinrade admitted possessing the drug at Police Headquarters and possessing it on Central Promenade.
The court heard a member of the public had called police concerned that someone was dealing drugs near The Empress Apartments.
When they arrived there and searched Kinrade they found 1.4 grams of cannabis in his jacket pocket – it had a street value of £28.
Fining Kinrade, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £125, Magistrates told him: "This reflects the seriousness of your persistent offending."
