Called Emergency Services Joint Control Room five times in an hour
A Douglas man who rang the Emergency Services Joint Control Room and subjected call handlers to offensive language has been fined.
Jamie Cachia, of Tynwald Road, said he was drunk when he called 999 just after midnight on 5 April.
He told the operator his brother had broken in and 'smashed up' his home.
The 25-year-old wouldn't provide further details, but called the ESJCR a further four times within the hour, repeatedly hurling abuse at the operators.
Police traced his phone and arrested him for sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages via an electronic communications network.
Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood fined Cachia £500 and ordered him to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
