Firefighters called to incident on Cambridge Terrace

The fire service is warning of the dangers of overfilling pans and fryers after being called out to tackle a chip pan fire in Douglas.

Crews were called to Cambridge Terrace just after 5pm yesterday, where they found the chip pan fire had quicky spread to the ceiling and the floor above.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says most fires in the home start in the kitchen, and is encouraging safer cooking methods such as air frying and oven cooking where possible.

When using pans of fryers with oil, fire officers advise keeping them to a maximum of one third full, using thermostat controlled deep fat fryers to make sure the oil doesn't get too hot and turn down the heat if oil begins to smoke.
